Integrated Biofeedback Parameters

The MindMaster Bio 8 offers eight biofeedback parameters — the most comprehensive peripheral biofeedback coverage in the Bio series:

• EMG (Electromyography) — 3 Channels: The Bio 8 is the only Bio model offering three EMG channels. This enables complex muscle analysis — for example, simultaneous measurement of left and right sides plus a reference muscle group, or mapping entire muscle chains.
• EDA (Electrodermal Activity / Skin Conductance): Sensitive indicator of sympathetic arousal for stress management and relaxation training.
• Temperature: Peripheral skin temperature measurement reflecting autonomic regulation and blood flow.
• Pulse / Heart Rate: Two measurement methods — finger pulse sensor and temporal artery sensor. Foundation for HRV training and cardiovascular biofeedback.
• Respiration: Two respiration belts for thorax and abdomen enable simultaneous chest and abdominal breathing measurement — ideal for differentiated breathing training.

Biofeedback Performance Software

The included Biofeedback Performance Software provides 7 ready-to-use training screens — each with a trainer screen and a feedback screen for professional dual-monitor operation:

• Skin Temperature: Hand warming training with threshold or direction-based training. Feedback via bar graphs, video or images.
• Respiration: 1- or 2-channel breathing training (chest and abdomen) with adjustable breathing pacer and balloon animation.
• EDA / Skin Conductance: Training to reduce sympathetic arousal with spontaneous fluctuation detection and various feedback options.
• Pulse / Heart Rate: BVP measurement at finger or temple with heart rate and amplitude display.
• 1-Channel EMG: Muscle activity training with impedance measurement, configurable filters and animations (balloon, human figure).
• 2-Channel EMG: Side comparison of both channels with animations (seesaw, bowling, underwater, space) and permanent impedance measurement.
• Individual Screen: 3 parameters freely selectable — for completely flexible training design.

General Software Features: Client management with archive function, VLC Media Player integration (videos as feedback), audio/music feedback with custom files, events and markers during recording (Ctrl+1-9), vibration feedback (MindPet / vibration cushion), permanent real-time impedance measurement, and data export in XDF and Excel format.

Biofeedback Software Modules

HRV Training (Heart Rate Variability)

Heart rate variability training using pulse and respiration sensors. The module provides real-time HRV visualization, multiple feedback modes (visual and auditory) and integrated breathing guidance. HRV is a recognized marker of autonomic nervous system adaptability and is used in stress management, resilience training and cardiovascular training.

Stress Test (Stress Profile Assessment)

Standardized stress profile assessment using up to five parameters simultaneously. The automated protocol includes stressor and relaxation phases over approximately 21 minutes, featuring an integrated Stroop test as a cognitive stressor. The result is an objective profile of individual stress response and recovery capacity — ideal for baseline and progress assessments.

EMG Training (Muscle Training)

2-channel EMG muscle training with various feedback modes, impedance measurement and flexible visualizations. The module supports systematic muscle training and relaxation with real-time feedback. Multiple training modes allow adaptation to different therapeutic objectives.

EMG Assessment (Muscle Diagnostics)

EMG-based muscle diagnostics and systematic assessment. This module enables standardized baseline and progress evaluations of muscle activity. Structured test protocols deliver reproducible results for documentation and outcome tracking.

Modular Concept & Upgradeability

All MindMaster devices (except Neuro 4) are built on the same modular platform. The Bio 8 can be upgraded at any time to the BioNeuro 9 or BioNeuro 11 — adding neurofeedback with up to 6-channel EEG and SCP training. The cost is the price difference plus 199 EUR assembly and shipping fee.
